Anna of the Four Journals

Filed under: Poetry — Anna M Evans @ 12:30 pm

It’s official! I am the new editor of the Raintown Review. Thanks to an email snarl up I was having difficulty communicating with the publisher, John Oelfke, for a while, but he has now sent out the announcement. So, where do I get four journals from?

  • My firstborn, The Barefoot Muse
  • Raintown Review
  • 14×14: okay I am merely one of six panelists here.
  • Up & Under: the QND Review: my poetry group’s print journal. Gulp, I need to do some work on that.

Anyway, the good news is I have recruited an Associate Editor, Quincy Lehr, to do some of the grunt work on Raintown, or I wouldn’t possibly be able to keep up with all this.

Speaking of which, there will be a new issue of TBM out on December 1st as planned. It’s a great issue! I received around 875 poems in submissions, and the resulting quality is higher than ever. Plus, more poets than usual have supplied sound files, so it’s a very aural experience!

Now for some poetry news: Mezzo Cammin have accepted “Retrovirology” and “Stubborn Town” for their June 2009 issue, and I just heard this morning that the Journal of New Jersey Poets have accepted “Doctrine”, a manuscript poem, for their 2009 issue. I received my contributors copies of Alehouse, Rattle and The Atlanta Review and all look excellent! Also, Mike Burch of the Hypertexts wants to do a spotlight feature on myself and Raintown in January. Finally, I’ve been asked to read again at the Barron Arts Center by the wonderful Deborah LaVeglia, although not until September 2009.

Becky has a meet tomorrow, so I will try to do a Gymnastics update after that.

Oh, and, three cheers for Barack Obama and all the Democrats who made his momentous victory possible. Two days after the election my husband and I applied for naturalization. Wish us luck!
